Southeast opened its doors in 1962 by a handful of volunteers led by Dr. Brown, Clyde Hammond, and Charlie Dupont. As agreed upon with the City of San Antonio, this youth sports league was leased this property but had to fill the complex with the dirt themselves. Over the years, volunteers have continued to build on those first dreams to the Southeast Skyline Complex present today with 5 fields, all lit with stadium baseball lights.
In the more than 40 years Southeast has served the community of San Antonio, thousands of children have graduated from the program and these products of Southeast PONY baseball have come back to be active coaches and board members for their own children.
Southeast is very excited to be part of the Bexar County May 2008 parks venue tax. The $3.3 Million awarded to Southeast Pony Baseball will give the complex an extreme makeover. Southeast will have 2 - 4 plexes, totalling 8 fields for children ages 3 to 18. Among the 8 fields includes an additional softball field to house our ever growing fast pitch softball program, and a Senior field to house our Colt and Palomino high school boys baseball teams. Our new complex will feature a pavillion for our teams to rest under during tournament time, and a playground for all of our little ones. Construction on the complex will begin at the end of the 2008 season, and fields will be complete and ready for the very next season opener in April 2009.
Thanks to these extreme makeovers, Southeast is on the rise again as the premiere baseball complex in South San Antonio. Thank you to the many loyal supporters of Southeast and for those looking for a ballpark to call home, we say welcome to the growing Southeast family.
The best is yet to come for Southeast Baseball.
